Training delivery

Training to meet your needs

COUNTRYWIDE TRAINING

Our "Countrywide" service, offers training for your organisation delivered by our facilitators in your own location. This can be more cost effective and convenient for organisations, particulary those who have an entire team who would benefit from the training, or those who are unable to access training at our dedicated centre due to distance and travel constraints.  We have over 25 facilitators with a wide range of expertise who deliver our training countrywide.

We can provide:

 -   Working Effectively in a Team

-   Communicating with Children when a Parent or Sibling Dies in Hospital

-   Staff Support and Personal Development

-   Responding to the Trauma of a Child's Sudden Death

-   In the Front Line - What Distressed Families Say They Need

-   Supporting the Bereaved After a Major Incident

-   A combination of workshops devised to fit into a one-day workshop, e.g. Children, Young People, Loss, Death and Grief with Creative Ways of Helping Bereaved Children; When a Baby Dies with Issues Around Post Mortem

"The quality of the training was first class.  The workshop was adapted to meet the team's specific needs, and was expertly facilitated, so that all the issues raised by the participants in the group were valued and discussed."

The charity is increasingly aware of the needs of those working in the corporate sector who may be involved with issues of bereavement in their work or organisation. Please contact us on 01494 479750 to discuss what we can do to help.

CORPORATE ORGANISATIONS

The Charity is increasingly aware of the needs of those working in the corporate sector who may be involved with issues of bereavement in their work or in their organisation.  When a colleague or client suffers a bereavement, particularly that of a partner or child, few people know what to say or do around them, from managers, colleagues and friends, to HR representatives.  Everybody wants to help but nobody wants to make things worse.

One hour presentation

At CBC we recognise that loss in its many forms has a big impact in the workplace so we have developed a presentation on bereavement for employers and employees.  One hour long, it explores issues around bereavement and addresses its impact on individuals.  It looks at strategies for coping with loss, communicating with a colleague who is grieving and protocols for the workplace in addressing bereavement issues.  It also allows opportunities for participants to ask questions.  We also provide a pack with useful information, resources and literatures.

The session is aimed at HR staff, management and anyone with a special interest in staff support.

"It was a tremendous event and I think most people walked away with a new perspective - some undoubtedly walked away with the practical guidance and conviction they needed to find a pathway through.  It was great to be reminded of how positive interventions can be and how much can be done to help people move ahead."   BARCLAYS WEALTH

More detailed and lengthier sessions are available, which can be tailored to meet your individual needs and fitted around the working day.

Example of CBC Countrywide training and best practice in bereavement care

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading children's cancer charity, supporting children and young people with cancer and leukaemia and their families in hospitals and the community. Whilst 7 out of 10 children now survive cancer, sadly some will die.

We believe it is vitally important to support staff working in the areas of palliative care and bereavement, and as part of this strategy we are developing a robust programme of training for our social workers, nurses, youth workers and family support teams.

Over the past year CLIC Sargent has commissioned the Child Bereavement Charity to run "When a Child Dies: Supporting Families" workshops across the UK. Given that feedback has been consistently excellent, we are re-commissioning the CBC in an ongoing capacity to provide this structured opportunity for our multi-disciplinary teams to further develop skills and best practice in supporting families coping with bereavement, as well as recognising the importance of self-care in this work.

We value the skilled input of the Child Bereavement Charity in our drive to support and develop our staff in order to provide the highest quality care and support to bereaved families.
