Aim
This TWO DAY RESIDENTIAL aims to enable a deeper understanding what families value at a time of crisis and how to support and empower such families in making difficult decisions.
Learning outcomes
- to explore the unique grief-related issues doctors experience in their role with bereaved families
- to identify our own feelings around loss and grief and the physical and emotional effects these have on us
- to examine and develop a deeper understanding of the needs of grieving families and how grief affects them
- to identify ways to use listening and assertiveness skills to increase self confidence and be an advocate for ourselves and others
- to gain an understanding of the value of looking after ourselves
- to provide an opportunity to network and share experiences
- to gain information about the Child Bereavement Charity, other similar support organisations and resources available
Who should attend?
Suitable for all doctors whose work involves communicating with families when a patient is dying or has died
