Aim
To meet the challenges of effectively and sensitively communicating with and supporting grieving families when a death is sudden and unexpected
Learning outcomes
- to develop insight into the needs of grieving families
- to gain an understanding of the dynamics of sudden death
- to learn about the theory of grief in relation to sudden death
- to increase confidence and skills in the process of breaking bad news
- to identify the most appropriate support and intervention strategies
- to increase confidence in communicating with and supporting relatives
- to gain an awareness of the issues of facilitating family presence at resuscitation
- to explore and develop our self-awareness and support for ourselves
- to gain information about the Child Bereavement Charity, other similar support organisations and resources available
