Antony Worrall Thompson is to lend his inimitable support to the Child Bereavement Charity's sizzling Red Hot Ball, taking place at Phyllis Court Club in Henley on Saturday 28th June.
The TV regular, who is a patron of the charity will be devising a menu with the"Red" theme in mind to delight the 300 guests who will be attending.
Guests will be welcomed - via a red carpet - to the vermillion venue, and invited to have a glass of crimson champagne. After dinner there will be live music from the fantastic band Oliver Twist, and an auction hosted by celebrity auctioneer Charles Ross.
Organiser Jill Poll, also a patron of the charity, and her team of eleven committee members, nicknamed "The Party Bags" have worked tirelessly to make the event happen. Many of them have personal reasons for supporting CBC, including Jill herself who is organising the ball in memory of her daughter Ellen who tragically died aged just three weeks. Her other two daughters, Lorna and Louise are members of the committee and her son Sam, Ellen's twin, will be presenting a video on behalf of the charity on the night.
Jill said, "This charity means an awful lot to me - I only wish it had been around thirty years ago when my daughter died. Getting the right bereavement care and advice when you are at your most vulnerable is so important - it can change how you approach the rest of your life. This is the sixth ball I have organised for CBC and I am determined to make it the best yet - so I would ask anyone who thinks they can help us with a prize or sponsorship to please get in touch."
Tickets have all sold out at £100 each - there is a waiting list in process - and there are a large number of stunning prizes to be won, helping the event reach its target of £40,000.
The prizes on offer include an England Rugby Shirt which has been worn in an England match and signed by Will Greenwood, a signed football courtesy of Reading Football club, and a unique signed watercolour by artist Tim Bulmer.
There will be a tree of life where different priced envelopes will be sold to guests, with a guaranteed prize every time. There will also be a high-tech silent auction where all bids are simultaneously relayed to large screens.
All money raised on the night will go towards specialist staff to coordinate the charity's provision of support to children and young people, and to manage the team providing support and information in relation to all aspects of child bereavement.
By listening to both children and parents, CBC leads the way in improving the care offered to such families both in the immediate crisis and the many months following a death. We help grieving families both directly through our information and support service, our online forum and our Buckinghamshire based groups and indirectly through training and supporting professionals who come into contact with those families.
