Guests including Jemma Kidd and cook Mary Berry were treated to the best weather of the year at the CBC St George's Day Shoot, which took place on Saturday 26th April at the stunning Hall Barn Estate, Beaconsfield, raising over £70,000 for the charity.

The event took place for the second year thanks to its hosts; Norman and Frances Grundon and Paul and Louise Woodbridge who organised the day in memory of their two year old twins Betsy and William.

The venue was Lord Burnham's beautiful Hall Barn Estate in Beaconsfield, which is instantly recognisable to millions as it was the immortalised in the film "Gosford Park." The event was held there once again by kind permission of the Hon. Jenefer Farncombe. Jenefer was also the lucky winner on the day of a Mini Cooper, generously sponsored by Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Plc in conjunction with Stratstone Mini Maidenhead. She was able to choose her preferred Mini colour and spec, courtesy of Stratstone Mini in Maidenhead.

Ray Winters, the MD of a financial instution and the son of comedian Bernie Winters, spoke movingly about the difference the charity had made to his life after the tragic death of his wife Tina, leaving him to bring up two young children single-handedly.

Guests, including two representatives of the Chelsea Pensioners, Alf Hey and Don Pickering, enjoyed a three course traditional English lunch designed by the quintessentially English Mary Berry.

Ian Coley once again managed the impressive and challenging simulated game shoot and Stratstone Land Rover lent their chauffeured Land Rovers to transport the guests around the course.

The shoot itself was complemented by a fashion show by the Really Wild Clothing Company, whose collection focuses on "country clothing with city style".

Sarah Broom, Head of Events at CBC said, "This is such a wonderful event, we are so grateful to the Grundons and the Woodbridges for hosting it for the charity once again. Last year's shoot raised almost £50,000 and the fact we have raised over £20,000 more this year is amazing - which will have a huge impact on the charity's work."

The Child Bereavement Charity (CBC) is a unique national charity working to help grieving families when a child dies and when a child is bereaved. No other charity offers this specialised service.

By listening to both children and parents, CBC leads the way in improving the care offered to such families both in the immediate crisis and the many months following a death. We help grieving families both directly through our support and information service, our online forum and our Buckinghamshire based groups and indirectly through training and supporting professionals who come into contact with those families.
