Giving your shares to CBC is a way of donating assets to the charity which offers tax relief in addition to the capital gains tax relief.

A gift of shares worth £1,000 could reduce a basic rate donor's income tax bill by £220, or by £400 if a higher rate taxpayer. Since 1 April 2000 companies can get corporation tax relief for gifts to charity of listed shares, unit trusts and investment trusts.
