Aim

This TWO DAY RESIDENTIAL aims to enable a deeper understanding what families value at a time of crisis and how to support and empower such families in making difficult decisions.

Learning outcomes

to explore the unique grief-related issues doctors experience in their role with bereaved families
to identify our own feelings around loss and grief and the physical and emotional effects these have on us
to examine and develop a deeper understanding of the needs of grieving families and how grief affects them
to identify ways to use listening and assertiveness skills to increase self confidence and be an advocate for ourselves and others
to gain an understanding of the value of looking after ourselves
to provide an opportunity to network and share experiences
to gain information about the Child Bereavement Charity, other similar support organisations and resources available

Who should attend?

Suitable for all doctors whose work involves communicating with families when a patient is dying or has died
