Example of CBC Countrywide training and best practice in bereavement care
CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading children's cancer charity, supporting children and young people with cancer and leukaemia and their families in hospitals and the community. Whilst 7 out of 10 children now survive cancer, sadly some will die.
We believe it is vitally important to support staff working in the areas of palliative care and bereavement, and as part of this strategy we are developing a robust programme of training for our social workers, nurses, youth workers and family support teams.
Over the past year CLIC Sargent has commissioned the Child Bereavement Charity to run "When a Child Dies: Supporting Families" workshops across the UK. Given that feedback has been consistently excellent, we are re-commissioning the CBC in an ongoing capacity to provide this structured opportunity for our multi-disciplinary teams to further develop skills and best practice in supporting families coping with bereavement, as well as recognising the importance of self-care in this work.
We value the skilled input of the Child Bereavement Charity in our drive to support and develop our staff in order to provide the highest quality care and support to bereaved families.
