Capturing memories

At the time of their baby's death, some parents want to avoid anything that reminds them of their baby because it is so painful. However, almost all parents are grateful to have memories of their baby.

In the case of babies who die before they are born or around the time of birth, when there are so few memories, photographs are one of the most precious mementoes that parents can have. Keepsakes such as foot and hand prints, perhaps a lock of hair (taken with the parent's permission) or a written description of what their baby looked like provide a tangible acknowledgement of the baby's life - however short - and give parents a focus for their grief.

Parents might be able to make something in memory of their child. If they don't feel that they can do this, they might like to buy something or ask someone to make something for them.
