Grief and Bereavement in Early Years Settings

Aim

To enable practitioners to develop the skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence to support young children and their families affected by loss, grief and bereavement

Learning Outcomes

•   to develop an understanding of the impact of loss and grief on young
    children's holistic development
•   to gain insight into young children's understanding of death
•   to explore ideas on how to meet the needs of young children affected
    by the death of someone important to them
•   to recognise the importance of developing positive relationships with young
    children and their families affected by grief and bereavement
•   to devise a framework and toolbox for an early years setting to enable
    appropriate responses to death
•   to gain information about the Child Bereavement Charity, other similar support
    organisations and resources available

Who Should Attend?

Suitable for anyone working in an early years settings including, nursery teachers, childminders, health visitors, social workers, support staff, LA advisors and governors
