Leaving a Legacy

While we are alive we all want to influence the world for the better, to leave the world a little brighter than when we found it.

Leaving a legacy to the Child Bereavement Charity means that you will be able to contribute to our vital work, providing specialised training and support for professionals to improve their response to the needs of bereaved and grieving families, and of course producing resources and information for bereaved children and families and all those who care for them.

You might be pleased to hear that charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax, so leaving money to the Child Bereavement Charity means that the charity benefits from every penny.

Legacies of all sizes are invaluable to us. If you would like to leave something to the Child Bereavement Charity you will need to give instructions to your Solicitor. Here is an example of the kind of wording you could ask your Solicitor to use:

"I (your name) give (the amount, goods or share thereof) to the Child Bereavement Charity, The Saunderton Estate, Wycombe Road, Saunderton, Bucks HP14 4BF, registered Charity No 1040419, for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the honorary treasurer or other proper officer of the Child Bereavement Charity for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."

If you have already made your will, you can still leave a gift to the Child Bereavement Charity, by adding a Codicil. This way you can leave a legacy to the Child Bereavement Charity whilst ensuring that the other provisions in your Will remain untouched, and you won't have to pay for your Will to be completely re-written. Again you just need to discuss with and give instructions to your solicitor.
