Supporter's Stories

There are many things you can do to support the Child Bereavement Charity, as you may have read in this community fundraising section this ranges from events to raising awareness.  We have listed a few successful supporter's stories below for you to read:

Shakespeare in the Garden - 2009, 2010 & 2011

Steve McAdam, a supporter of the Child Bereavement Charity and member of an amateur theatre group, organised an open air performance of a Shakespeare play in his garden in 2009.  Together with his group, The Garden Players, they sought sponsorship from companies and sold tickets to friends, family and the local community.  The performance of "Much Ado about Nothing" was held over 4 nights in Buckinghamshire and raised an incredible £7500.  The event was so successful it was then held at The Royal Crescent in Bath in 2010 and will be repeated in Buckinghamshire in 2011.

"GUYfest" in memory of Guy Evans - 2009

"GUYfest" was an amazing event in memory of Guy Evans who died at the age of 17.  His mother Beth Chesney-Evans organised the event that raised £1000 for the Child Bereavement Charity.

Memorial Football Match and Family Fun Day - 2009 and 2010

In 2009 Mark Jordan and Alistair McCormick, with the support of the whole community, managed to raise a massive £5,334.74 by holding a Memorial Football Match in memory of their friend Andy Parker.  The day included fun activities for families as well as an auction with some fantastic prizes donated by companies in and around Cambridge.  The event was such a success that it was repeated again in 2010 where it raised a brilliant £3500.

South Downs Cycle - 2010

For Barry Kennedy and Simon Leigh's 50th Birthday's they decided to take on a challenge that would always be remembered and this took shape in the way of a 50km cycle ride down the South Downs Way.  They recruited friends, family and colleagues to take part and managed to gather a team of around 40 people, together they raised a incredible £25,000 for the Child Bereavement Charity.
