In January our Rolling Stone Appeal began, a new fundraising scheme set up by long-standing CBC patron, Flappy Lane Fox.
Rolling Stone Events raise funds, whilst having fun, to support CBC's work, including the Support and Information Service that was established in 2001 in memory of Flappy's son, Harry Sidebottom.
Flappy set the ball rolling by inviting six guests for lunch, each of whom donated a minimum of £5 to be there. More importantly, each guest agreed to host a similar event of their own, at which the next six guests donate £5 each and hold their own event in turn.
The event can be a lunch, dinner or whatever the host would like - something that all the guests will enjoy. Perhaps a coffee morning, tennis afternoon, dinner, etc.
The success of this appeal relies on every person inviting their guests to a Rolling Stone event within a month of the event they first attended. Believe it or not, if this chain was unbroken when the stone rolled through seven cycles, almost 300,000 people would have taken part and attended a CBC Rolling Stone event! Of course we know that some people always find it impossible to continue, but see how far your stone rolls, by keeping in touch with the people along the line.
