This Fathers Day take part in our Dash for Dad at West Wycombe Park.
Open to men and women, this is a very exciting addition to the racing calender which is now in it's 2nd year. We are very grateful to Sir Edward and Lady Dashwood for allowing us to use the park.
The 5 & 10 kilometre mixed terrain courses will take in the gardens and lakes as well as going off into the woodland to the rear of the estate. The 10k race will take in some challenging hills, with several water points. The 5k race will be less challenging with approximately a 20m climb and one water point.
We will also be holding a 1 kilometre fun run for children on the day, this will take place shortly after the start of the main race.
Why the Dash for Dad? "Every day is like a rollercoaster ride for us since our Dad’s died. When
we come here we feel safe and we can be ourselves. We don’t have to
worry about other people saying the wrong thing, and asking us questions
about our Dad’s. We don’t feel different here and we feel understood.
If we didn’t have this group we wouldn’t know how others felt and we
would feel alone. Father’s Day can be difficult because it feels like everyone else is celebrating, and we want to celebrate but we can’t" - Young People's Advisory Group 2012
