John O’Groats to Lands End Three Peaks Challenge
The Challenge
Members of the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team aim to relay-cycle from John O’ Groats to Lands End, taking in walking ascents of three nation’s highest peaks - Ben Nevis ( 4409’), Scafell Pike (3209’) and Snowdon (3560’). In 100 Hours.
The team of 7 men and 2 women will set off from John O’Groats on 7th September 2012. They are undertaking this titanic task to raise money for the Child Bereavement Charity, because HRH The Duke of Cambridge is Patron of both the Child Bereavement Charity and Mountain Rescue (England and Wales).
It is a huge physical and logistical challenge, and whilst we are aware of previous non-stop cycle rides and relays we are not aware of any previous attempts that have taken in the 11,000 ‘ of mountain summits.
During the ascents of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon we hope to be accompanied by and to be able to lead other supporters and Patrons of The Child Bereavement Charity.
