Considerations When a Child Dies

Some people try to encourage parents to forget. This is particularly true for parents whose baby dies at an early stage of pregnancy, but may also be true for parents of older babies and children.

People who says things like this are well-meaning and trying to protect parents from pain. But expressing how they feel is an important way for parents to begin to recover from their painful experience. They need time and the opportunity to express what the loss of their child means to them.

Post Mortems and the gift of donation can be difficult to think about. Parents can find it helpful to know as much as possible about why their baby or child has died, and many families have gained comfort through the gift of donation.
